Tencent Buy the Studio Inflexion Games

Chinese Tencent conglomerate has bought the Inflection Games study, founded by the former Bioware Aaryn Flynn leader.

Inflection is currently working in Nightingale, a survival game set in a Victorian fantasy world. The development of this title will continue, although there will be changes because inflection is no longer an improbable, the company responsible for computing technology in the Spatialos cloud.

Improbable announced last month that I was going to follow the steps of Google Stadia, canceling its initiatives of internal video game development. This has motivated the sale of Inflection to Tencent.

Flynn has explained to Gamesindustry.biz, however, that the study was already working in separating the unlikely technology from last year, and that now the game will be "a more intimate experience, for a player or for a small group of players ".

"We take that decision in summer from last summer considering other things we wanted to do with the game, this was based largely from a game design point of view and where we wanted to take it."

"We were investing more and more in elements of our experience of crafting and survival, and we made the decision to ensure that we would take this game and we would not find ourselves in the long cycle of development of many MOS, which would take us away from those things."

Nightingale, in fact, was initially raised as a multiplayer online RPG, but in its presentation last December it redefined as "a game of survival and crafting with shared world".

That world is ambient in the 19th century, in an alternative version of the Victorian era in which magic has existed for hundreds of years. This magic has allowed humanity to create a network of portals towards other fantasy kingdoms.
